I made View A with the Mutton Sleeves for a Gibson Girl event. At first, I was a little intimidated by how many pieces are in this pattern but, once I started to assemble it, all the pieces fit together very easily. Interestly, the draping/poof part in front is merely attached over a fitted, boned bodice foundation. I was a little confused by the sleeve facings but, it wasn’t a big problem. Just read the directions carefully and allow time to work slowly. I love the big sleeves. I will use this pattern again and sew one of the other styles. The package is a great deal; you get a lot of different bodice styles. Pictured on the left.

I added the long lace flounces on the sleeves and appliques. I added two non-period snaps to the neck and waistline center facings to hold them in place. One caution: Most experienced sewers will slash the curves so the seams lay flat, be sure to add the boning casings before slashing. I didn’t and it took longer than it should to sew them in place. The pattern instructions do not include any reference to snipping the seams.
