For all those who love creating! Costume Academy is a one day event where you can learn techniques to take your projects to the next level. The day is composed of three sessions and includes a variety of class topics such as ribbon chatelaines, fairy wing flower crowns and digital project organization!

Here’s how it works: There are 4 classes offered within three time slots. Each student chooses up to three classes, one for each time slot. There will be an hour and a half lunch break after the first session and a 30 minute break between the last two sessions.

The registration cost for members of GBACG is $55.00 and will go on sale on Wednesday, January 31st at 7 pm.  For non-members the cost is $65.00 and will go on sale on Friday, February 3rd at 7pm based on availability. Join the guild before January 29th to get the member rate and to sign up before non-members! Be sure to check the classes offered before purchasing a membership.

Registration and Class Sign-Up Process

After registering for Costume Academy through Eventbrite, you will be sent an email confirmation from Eventbrite with a link to make your class choices. Please pick a first and second choice in each time slot when registering. If you do not receive the email, check your spam, promotions, or trash folder. If you still can’t find the email, please contact Costume Academy. Students will be placed in classes based on their registration time. Please submit your selections within 24 hours of registering or you will lose your priority. An email with your class schedule will be sent out by February 7th.

Some classes may have an additional kit or handout fee payable after receiving class schedule confirmation. Kit and handout fees are mandatory and are payable TO THE INSTRUCTOR within three days after registration confirmation. You will receive your invoice from the instructor.  People who do not pay within three days will lose their space in the class!

Transfer Policy: There will be no refunds offered due to cancellation or no-shows. You may sell and transfer your registration to another person through Eventbrite or by emailing Costume Academy Coordinator. All transfers must be completed by March 17th at 5pm. Please note that the new student will take over the original students classes. They don’t get to choose new classes. 

Classes will be held at Language Studies International, 2015 Center St, Berkeley, CA 94704 (map). Berkeley has free street parking on Sundays! Also, the Downtown Berkeley Bart station is a block from the location. Nearest parking garage is Allston Way Garage at 2061 Allston Way, one block from LSI.

As we have attendees with significant allergies, please refrain from wearing perfumes or bringing anything scented (including flowers) to workshops.

Can I get a refund?

No we do not offer refunds, but you can sell or transfer your registration. The deadline is March 17th, 2024 for transfers.

I've registered on Eventbrite, how do I choose classes?

When you register on eventbrite you will get a confirmation email with a link to register classes, please choose your first and second choice in classes.

I've chosen my classes when will I get my schedule?

It takes a few days to organize the class registration. You will receive your class schedule within a week of submitting your classes. If you have further questions: email costumeacademy@gbacg.org.

Where should I park?

On Sundays there is free street parking, and two parking garages within two blocks, LSI is also a block from the Berkeley Bart station. Please DO NOT leave valuables in your car.
