Why costuming?  What brought you here? I always loved Halloween, theater, going to renfaire, and things like that. As I got older I realized I didn’t need an excuse to ‘play dress-up’. Get to Know Us

Founded in 1990, the Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild (GBACG) is an educational and social group, promoting all aspects of costume and textile arts: historical, science fiction, vintage, fantasy, and other genres. We offer yearly memberships in our group that entitles members to discounts on many of our events and workshops. We welcome all levels of experience, especially the non-sewer or novice!

We sponsor anywhere from 6-8 costumed Events each year. Activities range from picnics and dinners to museum and event visits; costume themes can be historical, science fiction, fantasy, and other genres – the only limit is your imagination!

Upcoming Events are listed on the GBACG Calendar

The guild offers a number of Workshops that allow students an opportunity to learn costuming techniques from experts and to work in-depth on costuming projects. The GBACG also hosts Costume Academy, one day of workshops where you can sign up to take multiple classes.

Upcoming Workshops are listed on the GBACG Calendar.

Besides becoming part of the greater community of costume enthusiasts, GBACG members receive the discounted price to all of our events, workshops, and Costume Academy. In addition, they receive a discounted price to events sponsored by our Sister Organizations. Put all that together with our information-packed website and email list, and you’ll never be without support and information for your costuming interests.
