The Natural. This was a terrific event for the entire family.
San Jose Giants vs.Visalia Oaks. GIANTS WON 7-5!
GIANTS KNOCK OFF OAKS IN EXTRA INNINGS
KEITH ANDERSON BELTS WALKOFF HOME RUN IN 7-5 WIN
The San Jose Giants defeated the Visalia Oaks 7-5 Saturday evening at Municipal Stadium in front of 2,259 fans. The game was their fourth extra inning win in their last five games.
The Giants again had some late inning heroics to put them a season high eight games over the .500 mark as A.J. LaBarbera and Keith Anderson hit home runs to extend their winning streak to five games, also a season high.
Giants starter Julio Pavon put fourth a solid performance pitching five and a third innings, allowing three runs and striking out five. The Giants led 2-1 in the sixth inning when Pavon left the game after allowing back to back singles to Chris Fallon and Sean Barker. Anthony Pannone came on in relief with runners on second and third and allowed a single to Ryan Spilborghs, which gave the Oaks a 3-2 lead. The Giants came right back with two runs of their own in the sixth as Carlos Sosa and Julio Cordido hit back to back doubles to jump start the offense. Brian Buscher then drove both runners home with a single up the middle.
The Oaks took advantage of a Julio Cordido bobble of a potential double play ball in the seventh. Cordido with his thoughts set on forcing the runner out at second was unable to field it cleanly and was forced to settle for the out at first. Sean Barker then hit a single to score Bryan Peck from second to tie the game at four. The Giants had their chance to retake the lead in the bottom of the inning when they had men on first and third with one out. However, Carlos Sosa and Julio Cordido struck out, to strand the runners.
Visalia did not waste any time scoring after the Giants squandered their opportunity. With two out Brian Barre hit a clutch RBI single to score Bryan Peck who had led off the inning with a double. However, the Giants had some clutch hitting of their own as A.J. LarBarbera hit a two out home run in the bottom of the ninth to tie it up. In the bottom of the tenth, Keith Anderson hit a 3-2 hanging breaking ball over the right-center field wall for a two run homer, making the Giants five-for-five on the
home-stand.
