GBACG Open House 2018!

Sunday, January 21st, 2018
2:00pm – 5:30pm
Veteran' Memorial Building, Albany, CA

Looking Forward to 2018

Once again it's time to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones at our elegant annual Open House.

What is the Open House? The Open House is a light afternoon tea, a fashion show, a raffle giveaway, a membership drive, our annual meeting, and a great big party all wrapped up in one fine afternoon.

What's it cost? GBACG Members (including those who join or renew that day) are FREE and Non-Members pay only $5 for this event.

But, wait! There's more! If you join or renew your GBACG membership any time in the month of January, you'll pay $2 off the normal fee, just $20 for the year. You can choose to pay in person at the Open House, online using PayPal, or through the mail. If you choose to use snail mail, please be sure your payment is postmarked by January 31st.

What to wear? Anything goes. Costumes of all eras will be admired, but aren't required.

  • 2:00 Doors Open
  • 2:30 - 3:00 Welcome, Event Announcements, Board Reports
  • 3:00 - 3:15 Break
  • 3:15 - 4:00 Fashion Show
  • 4:00 - 4:45 Cake Break
  • 4:45 - 5:30 Raffle
  • This is a great event for newcomers. If you have friends who might be interested in our group, please bring them along. If you've been shy about coming to GBACG events or workshops, this is the perfect place to make friends, meet the Board, learn all about us, and preview our activities for 2018.

Refreshments: Coffee, tea, lemonade and water will be available, and we will end the day with cake.

Fashion Show: For many, the highlight of our open house is the fashion show. Board members Lauren Moyer and Christina DeAngelo are putting together a beautiful show highlighting our upcoming events. You don't want to miss this!

Fleece Donations:: We’re eager to accept your donations of new, clean fleece fabric for our Cancer Caps Charity Sew-Along. Please donate any fleece fabric that’s been lurking in your stash too long – any color or pattern is fine. Drop it off at the check-in desk at Open House and we’ll make it into something lovely!

Raffle/Treasure Table: We're looking for a selection of quality prizes as well as our traditional table of treasures. If you have a costuming-related business please consider making a donation—we'll make sure you get lots of recognition and appreciation, and it's tax-deductible. If you have costume-related items you'd like to donate to our Raffle Treasure Table, please send an email to . Arranging and setting up the table is a big job and knowing what items are incoming is a great help. Please use these simple guidelines when gathering your donations:

    • TRIMS: Place each trim in a separate zip bag. Label each bag with the length of the trim.
    • GARMENTS: On a tag attached to the garment with a safety pin, list the garment's measurements including bust/chest, waist, hip, sleeve length, skirt length, etc.
    • FABRIC: Fold each fabric neatly and list the length, width and fabric content on a tag attached to the fabric with a safety pin.

Be aware that all items remaining on the table at the end of the Open House will be donated to another nonprofit organization

To attend, you must RSVP by Friday, January 19th on EventBrite. Please include the total number in your party as well as each person's name.

Volunteers: It takes a village to run the guild! We need people to help decorate, work the check-in tables, assist with the raffle, wrangle models, and serve cake. You'll get breakfast, an extra raffle ticket, our gratitude, and the satisfaction of helping out. Please contact Catherine Scholar at if you would like to volunteer.
