The 2010 GBACG Workshop Series Presents:
Candace Kling Ruching Workshop

Saturday, August 28th, 2010 -- 10am-5pm
Bay Area Christian Connection, Oakland, CA

This workshop is now sold out!

Plain gathering and simple shirring? That's just the beginning. The art of fabric manipulation has been around longer than you think. Using ribbon and fabric, needle and thread, you will make samples of these and other techniques, from fancy edgings to surface designs. You can use many of these techniques to trim your Victorian dresses, hats and even gloves. A lot of these techniques are even popular on women's clothing today. These little touches really put the wow factor in your work. Learn how Victorian seamstresses ruffled the ruffle, 1920's milliners trimmed their hats with gauged ribbon, and how Parisian designers apply these skills today. Pictures from Candace's collection will give you a wealth of application ideas.

Instructor Bio: Candace Kling's years of enthusiastic research in ribbon and fabric embellishment have led her to explore museum costume and textile collections across the country, teaching as she goes. In addition to her wealth of knowledge from years of research, Candace shares ribbonwork samples, sources, books, and slides with her students. Her book, The Artful Ribbon, is a best seller.
