#121 - Poke Bonnet

A nice wide-brim poke bonnet, plenty of room for hair. Very simple, even if you've never made a hat before. Lots of basting by hand, but nothing terrifying. Don't buy this to fake a mid-19th century bonnet. The angled crown of this bonnet is very 1830's. Don't forgo stitching a comb in or it will always be slipping backwards. Also, DO NOT use fabric glue to cover the buckrum. If you do, you'll be sorry. Use something that will lay down in a smooth layer such as spray adhesive.

Remember to add seam allowances; none are marked on the pattern pieces. It's very important to press the seams open as you go along because it helps to create the shape of the hat. Looks better in a heavy fabric such as velvet.
